Current Agenda
Truckee Donner PUD does not anticipate being affected by a preemptive wildfire safety power outage this weekend. We are aware that other utilities in the region have issued warnings for potential safety outages this weekend, but the weather conditions and wildfire danger level forecast for Truckee do not currently meet the threshold for a wildfire safety outage. NV Energy has indicated that it does not expect to de-energize the transmission lines that feed TDPUD’s system. Even though both Liberty Utilities and NV Energy have flagged an elevated fire risk in Verdi—which we often remind customers is where our transmission lines are located—this monitoring currently only relates to NVE’s distribution system in Verdi, not its transmission lines in the area. These precautions are stemming from a storm tracking to our north that will bring strong winds into the area this Saturday. Since yesterday, the winds forecast for Truckee have diminished, which lowers the fire danger for our area. This is why TDPUD also does not anticipate needing to deploy our own Preemptive Power Shutoff program. If anything changes, we will alert our customers following our standard PSOM/PPS protocol. More information can be found here: www.tdpud.org/psom. We urge our customers to make sure their contact information is up-to-date in their online account, as this is our primary means of communication in these outage events. [posted 9/10, 2:30pm]
