Electric Rates
Commercial customers are charged based on actual electrical use recorded on an electric meter. Currently, one rate for each class of customer determined by monthly power use and/or peak monthly demand is offered. More rate options are being investigated.
Residential customers are charged based on actual electrical use recorded on an electric meter.

Truckee Donner PUD Renewable Portfolio Standard (RPS)(abbreviated)
TDPUD’s policy regarding 2002 SB1078
• Implement and enforce a renewable portfolio standard to encourage renewable resources
• Report annually: amount of money spent on renewables from public benefit funds and resource mix used to serve the customers
• What qualifies as a renewable resource; percentage of the total energy resources that are to be renewable; time frame in which to meet the “goal” of the defined standard
Renewable Portfolio Standard- revised March 2007

Tree Trimming
Each summer the Truckee Donner Public Utility District (TDPUD) undertakes a line clearance/tree-trimming program to trim or remove trees that are within the power line right of way. This program is mandated by the California Department of Forestry in an attempt to help reduce the risk of fire from incidental contact between tree branches and overhead high voltage power lines. Tree branches that come in contact with the power lines can result in power outages or possibly cause a branch to ignite. Tree trimming insures the area’s beauty by reducing the risk of fire in our community.
Please do not attempt to trim tree that are near the power lines yourself. Doing so can put you at serious risk for injury. If you find trees that need to be trimmed, contact TDPUD Customer Service at 530-587-3896
